Rural Living in Castlemaine

At the door of the house who will come knocking?
An open door, we enter
A closed door, a den
The world pulse beats beyond my door
Pierre Albert Birot

Walk slowly up the winding drive that leads to Wimereux, pass under the ancient trees that stand as guardians for this historic property, turn and glance towards distant Mount Franklin and feel the energy of this space.

Wimereux, with its eclectic mix of historic sheds that help to frame the courtyard could be mistaken for a mediterranean village. Those who appreciate historic homes, shedding, nooks and crannies will be captivated by the otherworldly quality of this space and long to call it home.

This is a property where you will struggle to name your favourite space. Is it the light filled dining room where you can breakfast overlooking the magical courtyard? Is it the galley kitchen which is a space cooks and chefs dream of calling their domain? Perhaps it is the courtyard, the rambling garden with a ‘fairy tree’ and antique roses. Maybe it is the loft which currently provides a spare room! Or is it the unique interconnecting sheds where people have worked?

It really is hard to actually name a favourite place here. Wimereux is waiting for passionate new owners to pick up the baton from those who have loved living in this very private part of Castlemaine.
